How to Deal with Chronic Pain Using Warm Up
Chronic pain affects more people than we are aware of because people who live with pain rarely stop to care for themselves in a way that reduces or relieves the pain. Pushing through pain seems like the only choice, and I am here to offer a solution that goes beyond the physical.
Are you willing to look at all the layers of your pain?

At times this can be as simple as recognizing which movements or positions aggravate your pain, and at others understanding the body is storing stress until you take the time to listen to the messages your body is communicating through pain. Being self-aware is a practice, and asking God for help is always the answer.
When we ask God for help, God sheds light on the truth of the issue. Is it as simple as a repetitive stress movement that we need to correct our biomechanics to reduce the stress? Are we holding emotions in the body that need to be acknowledged and released? Is God sending us in a new direction of which we are unaware? All of these situations can cause pain. Let’s address them one by one.
1). Biomechanics: Alignment is a great way to improve your biomechanics, although is not the only way. I think of alignment principles as suggestions that the body has to be able to move in and out of. Nothing happens in life that is perfectly symmetrical or even, so we need the strength and flexibility to create healthy movement patterns and explore how to break the rules in ways that doesn’t injure the body. Can your body respond to the stress that it is required to move through? This can mean carrying groceries, lifting children, climbing stairs, etc.
2). Emotions: Emotions can get stuck in our muscular tissue, our joints, and our organs, even in our brain. Cells have memory. Contributing factors to cellular health are sleep, nutrition, thoughts, prayer, sound, movement, and breath. Warm Up will teach you how to look at your emotions, which is step one, learn to name your emotions. Step two is to bring that emotion to God. “Dear God, I am feeling xyz emotion” (angry, sad, jealous). Step three is to ground your emotion and drop it into the Earth. Step four is to ask God to reveal to you a Divine Quality that helps you to purify your emotional state and transform it to a Divine State of Consciousness. Warm Up workouts for the Soul provides recordings of the Divine Names used on the Sufi Path for healing. Each name is sung 100x for you to have an experience of the down pouring of the Divine Response. Recommended usage is anywhere from 100x to 300x to 10,000x per Divine Name.
Here is a recap of the 4 steps for being polite with your emotions.
- Identify your emotional state, name your emotion
- Bring that emotion to God through prayer, “Dear God I am feeling…”
- Release the emotion purposefully into the Earth
- Ask God to reveal to you a Divine Quality to recite. “Dear God I am praying to You and asking You for guidance as to which Quality You want me to recite.”
3). Divine Guidance: Surprisingly to me I had walked on my spiritual path for ten years, when I received the guidance from God that I was still managing my own affairs rather than letting God guide me. It takes time to purify the egoic self to truly understand, and submit to living the life that God intends for us. Humility is a stepping stone along the way of which there are many pitfalls. Studying with a teacher who has walked the path and come back to guide others is key. Many guides are false. The road is not easy, although the practices are. Warm Up workouts for the soul are one practice of many that will teach you how to access the light of your soul. Be patient with yourself, but be honest with yourself. My ego told me many untrue stories that I had achieved arrival long before the doors opened for me to really achieve closer proximity to God. And I have still not yet “arrived”.
